SOS RULES
SFLSL Rules
This is a specific page for the SFLSL league of SOS SOCCER MANAGER.
Welcome to Sanctuary (SFLSL), this is a game that was originally based on a game called United and adapted by Alan Sellers to this current version.
SFLSL (Sanctuary Football League ) was created by Mike Morton the original commish
Officers
Officer Duties
The Commish is responsible for running the league matches and the league as a whole. Please read General_Information Benign Dictatorship for more on Commish.
Commish will award Participation Bonus based on Press Releases posted on the Blog and Journal, 40k is the maximum award for the Participation Bonus, normally awarded Monday's after the weekend league session.
Leon is awarded a Participation Bonus of 300k as his Press Officer Fee.
Robin is awarded a Participation Bonus of 300k as his fee as Assistant.
Where a newbie manager has been taken advantage off, then the Commissioner can demand a trade is reversed.
At the end of the season any existing trade bans on players can be removed. It is up to the individual manager to request this before the new season starts.
GENERAL
Each manager coaches a soccer club. A season is divided into sessions.
Each manager submits lineup order instructions online for each session, and the commissioner ('Commish') then resolves the matches using the software which determines the scores and the effects of the sessions on each manager's club.
Season 17 is the current season.
Physio Boost rule reminder: from season 5 onwards, a player on -8 or worse EL at the start of a 2 match session can get a Physio Boost‚ of +8EL at cost of 80k. More details below.
N M R
If a manager fails to submit a lineup more than 3 times (and any further) he will automatically be fined 50k and possibly face the sack.
New for season 12. If a manager reaches 6 NMR , the manager will automatically be sacked.
Unique SFLSL Differences
The main change is maximum SL, which is set randomly for each player.
The Max SL function works like this:
Each player is assigned a Max SL which is their "potential". They cannot be CP/TP'd above that SL.
This is a hidden field and has a range of 21 to 35. Teams can pay for scouting reports to get an idea of what the player's Max SL is.
Scouting reports vary in cost (commish configurable), but here's an example:
An Excellent Scouting Report will result in a MaxSL returned that is equal to or +/- 1 of the MaxSL of the player scouted. Currently set at 20k
A Very Good Report will result in a MaxSL returned that is equal to or +/- 2 of the MaxSL of the player scouted. Currently set at 10k
A Good Report will result in a MaxSL returned that is equal to or +/- 3 of the MaxSL of the player scouted. Currently set at 5k
To scout a player use the Transactions tab on the SFLSL website and then the Scout button. If a player is CP/TP 'd in a game and they are at their Max SL then they will not be CP/TP'd and nothing will show up in the match report. If you ordered CP/TP for a player and nothing happens then, barring a software bug, the player is at his maxSL
Website
Almost all functions of the game have been automated on the SFLSL website.
Orders are submitted online, trades are completed online, and interaction with other managers is possible on the blog, journal and match comments.
It is possible to communicate with other managers by email or Inbox. This is commonly done for trade discussions, as well as banter.
The Structure of a Season
The season starts with the Commish manually updating the league with the changes from the previous season, relegation, promotion, morale bonuses.
Before the Commish can update the teams, the Coaches need to enter New Season Orders. New Seasons orders are submitted using the preseason heading which is found within Transactions.
SFLSL has Cup competitions and the League. The commish will publish the fixture schedule at the beginning of the season.
Length of Season

Bank Cap
There will be a bank cap of 4,000. Any team exceeding this at the end of the season (league), will have any excess removed and possibly given to a "poor" team at the discretion of the commish.
Session
Each manager submits lineup order instructions online for each session, and the commissioner then resolves the matches using the software which determines the scores and the effects of the session on each manager's club.
A session consists of one or two matches for Cup sessions, two matches for League sessions.
Normally there are two sessions in a week, alternating between
Cup sessions @ 13.00 & 14.00 (UK time) Wednesday/Saturday
League sessions @ 13.00 & 14.00 (UK time) on Wed/Saturday
Physio Boost
The Idea of using a physio is to reduce the "down time" of a player. A 2 game session adds +8EL to a player, and ‚Physio Boost‚ will also add an additional +8EL so the recovery time is effectively halved. Player must be on a -8 or worse EL rating at the start of a session before ‚Physio Boost‚ can be used. So for a cost of 80k the player will get an extra EL Boost of +8 at the end of a session. 1 player per team per session allowed. A one game session will only add +4 at a cost of 40k.
A Manager must mail the commish prior to the day of the match requesting a Physio Boost. The boost will be applied after the match(es) have been played.
League
The regular season will involve the 16 teams in each division playing the other teams in their division twice (once at home and once away) for a total of 30 league matches. The schedule will be published at the beginning of the season.
The Champions are the team that finishes with the most points at the end of the 30 game league campaign in Div 1. With Division 2 winners being the team top of that division.
1st Division
All 1st Division game revenues will give each team an extra 25k per game.

-
Goal Differential
-

-
Most Goals Scored in Head To Head Play
-
Games Won
-

-

-

Blowouts and Weak teams
To discourage managers from fielding lineups that are too weak, whenever a club loses by 6 or more goals and their average total SL over 90 minutes is less than 50% of their team's total SL, that club is said to have been "blown out".
Out of position and aggression is not figured, just the player's actual Skill Level. In addition, in calculating the team total SL, ONLY players who are at EL 0 or higher and NOT suspended will be counted. Injured/suspended players will not be considered as those players could not play in the match anyway.
Blowout Effect
The team that suffers a blowout is fined 120k
During a cup match,
-
if a 1st Division team wins by blowout over a 2nd Division team then the 2nd Division team loses Zero.
-
If a 2nd Division team wins by blowout over a 1st Division club then the 1st Division club loses 60k.
All other blowouts cost 120k to the losing side. A manager may lodge an appeal against a Blowout fine if he considers it to be unfair. This will be reviewed by an appointed committee(3) and their decision is final. Any manager who is considered to have deliberately fielded a weak team in an attempt not to win a match , may be subject to a blowout fine.

AUCTIONS
There will be 5 Auctions during the season.... NO Age 0 players.
If there is a tie, the player goes to the team in the lowest division with the fewest league points.
Auction Instructions
-
-
Enter your lot number, bid, and player name based on the available players.
-
You may bid ONLY ONCE on an available auction player. You should bid the HIGHEST amount you will pay for the player, however you will get him at a lower price if the other competing teams highest bids are lower than yours (and you have the money). For example if one team bids 150 and another 250 then the second team will get the player for 151 (not 250). Another example: You bid 1000 on a player and no one else bids on the player. You will get him for 1k.
-
You must enter a UNIQUE player name for each player. If you bid on lot 1 and win and the player name is Smith‚, then if you win on lot 2 and also name him ‚Smith‚ then you will NOT get the second player
-
You should bid in numeric amounts, do not enter ALL as the program won’t accept letters for bids and then your bid essentially gets wasted/ignored.
-
If you have 25 players at the start of the auction OR the start of a bidding lot your bids are disqualified.
-
The order of the auction is done based on LOT. Lot 1 is processed first, a winner assigned, their bank account reduced, etc. Then its on to lot 2.
-
There is a 5 game trade ban on players purchased in the auction.
Draft
A draft was instituted into the League during the off-season before Season 2.
Each team will gain 3 player through the Draft
Draft Picks can be traded or sold.
-
Draft Players (1st round as from S10) have no trade ban
-
Each round of the draft is done in four stages, first 4 managers select their choices, with the 4th manager having to enter 4 conditional picks.
-
Then the same process for each set of 4 managers selecting from the remaining players
-
This process is repeated in all rounds of the draft.
2nd Round BLIND DRAFT
The remaining 68 players are re-numbered and put in groups; age & SL is hidden, managers have 2 picks in this round. There is no trade ban on these players.
-
There will be a gap of a few days between each step
-
We will try and publish players as they are picked
-
The draft is run in batches of four teams, as per the first round
-
The teams will receive the highest of their preferences that is left in the draft.
-
The draft preference list is the order of priority that you would like to acquire players
-
So the player you want most is picked first, then on down to your position in the draft.
Example
-
The team picking 6th, would need to list 6 players and would receive the highest of this list that is left in the draft.
-
So the 6th listed player would be assigned if all the other 5 were already picked by the first 5 teams.
Draft Player Distribution
There will be 100 players in the draft which will comprise of the following.
Draft Order
The order that the managers have to pick in is based on Final league position.
-
16th to 5th in Div 2 will go first
-
2 Automatic Relegated teams go next
-
Playoff losers go next
-
Play-off Winners will go next followed by 2 promoted teams from Div 2
-
12th to 1st in Div 1 will then go next
Players
Multi-Position Player Restrictions
-
You may acquire/trade as many multi-position players as you want in a season.
-
However, your roster may never exceed 5 multi-position players.
-
If you exceed 5, you must downgrade a multi-position player immediately to a normal position player.
-
You cannot bid on a multi-position player in the auctions if you already have 5 The bid will be voided.
-
That downgraded position must be one of the positions the player plays at normally.
-
For instance, an MA would be downgraded to a MF or FW but not a GK, SW, DF, or WG.
-
At the moment this has to be done by the league commissioner.
-
If a manager plays a match whilst his roster is in excess of 5 MPP he will be fined 100k

Past Seasons
** Season 7 was a strange one for all of SFLSL due to the legendary 'OLMEC CRASH' of 2010. A great deal of info was lost including match results .This effected all the Olmec Leagues running at that time.
